Barre Class Essentials

Hello! After sharing my journey of completing 50 classes at Pure Barre, I wanted to update the essentials list to include items for attending classes in the winter.

We just had a ton of snow here, so I definitely haven’t been wearing slide-ons to class. It’s also been freezing! So, here’s an updated list of essentials that includes winter-ready and other practical items you may need for heading to class. They blend style, comfort, and functionality, ensuring you’re always barre-ready!

Long-Sleeved Top

For those cooler days or air-conditioned studios, a long-sleeved top is essential. It keeps you warm without hindering your movement, ensuring elegance and comfort in every pose. A breathable long-sleeved top might seem odd to some, but long-sleeved leotards are worn in ballet classes. I also find that it prevents your skin from touching the mats. Even though we clean the mats with disinfecting wipes after class, my days as a personal trainer taught me that staph infections are a real concern.

Leggings

A good pair of leggings is like a second skin. These leggings are not just about looks; they’re about movement, comfort, and durability. You’ll be putting your legs up on the barre at points, and instructors will come around to manually correct your form. I find that ankle-length leggings facilitate this best. Plus, you have to admit, they look super cute paired with the longer crew grip socks.

Crew or Mid-Calf Socks

For those who prefer a bit more coverage, these crew or mid-calf socks are ideal. They offer the same grip benefits as the ballet-style socks, but with added warmth and support around the ankles and calves. This can be particularly comforting in cooler studio environments. They also look super cute on!

The Perfect Pullover

A pullover is your best friend for those pre-class warm-ups and post-class cool-downs. The one I’ve found combines comfort with a dash of polish, making it a versatile piece for both your workout and casual outings.

The Belt Bag

Gone are the days of bulky bags! Enter the Belt Bag – a chic, hands-free solution for your essentials. It’s perfect for storing your keys, phone, and wallet, allowing you to transition from street to studio seamlessly.

Ballet Style Barre Socks

I absolutely love these ballet-style barre socks. They provide the necessary traction to perform exercises safely and effectively. The design, reminiscent of ballet slippers, adds a touch of elegance to your workout attire. The snug fit ensures comfort and stability during those challenging tucks and helps you stay poised and graceful, even during the most challenging routines.

Sorel Boots

In spring, summer, and early fall, I wear slip-ons to class. However, we just got hit with major snow and slip-ons were not cutting it. These Sorel Boots are not just for braving the snow. They are super stylish and comfortable, perfect for those chilly mornings when you’re heading to class, ensuring you arrive in style without compromising on comfort.

Stanley Water Cup

Staying hydrated is crucial, and this Stanley water cup could be your hydration companion. The most important feature is the spill-proof lid, which makes it ideal for bringing into the studio. However, I do have a suggestion: if you work at Target, you may want to use the link above to purchase in order to keep your job.

There you have it – a basic list of fashion essentials for your barre class. The right gear not only boosts your performance but also your confidence. So, step into your next class with style and let your fashion reflect your fitness finesse!
